Ethics Day speaker at NL-EMMC in Bangor on Thursday April 30
This event is co-sponsored by UMaine Medicine, the Maine Hospital Association, Maine Medical Association, and EMMC.
Professor Mara Buchbinder is a cultural anthropologist and bioethicist at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
Dr. Buchbinder’s current project, The Vermont Study of Aid-in-Dying (Vermont SAID), is an ethnographic study of the implementation and cultural impact of Vermont’s “Patient Choice and Control at End of Life” Act (Act 39) funded by the NSF and the Greenwall foundation. CME and CNE credits are available.
This work has special relevance to Maine, since Governor Mills signed into law our own “Death with Dignity” law just a few months ago.
See Ethics Day flyer April 2020 for details.
