The University of Maine Center on Aging, Senior Companion Program is funded in part through a grant from the Corporation for National Service, National Senior Service Corps. Senior Companions are stipended volunteers who support homebound individuals with education and companionship, helping them remain in their homes. Volunteer stations are non-profit, community-based, human service agencies serving elders. SCP program coordinators recruit volunteer stations, to support the program and assign Senior Companions to homebound seniors. The SCP Director works in partnership with Center on Aging faculty, professionals, program coordinators and Advisory Council and volunteer stations in support of the goals and within the structure of the SCP. Typical hiring range for this position is $40,000 to $45,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications.
