Andrea Smith
Dr. Andrea B. Smith, Professor, holds joint appointments in the Departments of Teaching, Learning and Educational Studies and Family and Consumer Sciences at Western Michigan University. Dr. Smith has over 20 years of experience working with kinship care families in the United States and internationally. Dr. Smith’s experience in curricular resource development and planning, implementing and evaluating services for kinship families has resulted in numerous publications and presentations. In addition, she has extensive experience working directly with adults and children in kinship families as a licensed clinical social worker. Dr. Smith is Co-Director of the National Research Center for Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and Co-Executive Editor of Grandfamilies: The Contemporary Journal of Research, Practice and Policy.
