Le Anne E. Silvey, PhD, ACSW, LMSW is Associate Professor in the department of Human Development & Family Studies, and an affiliate faculty member in the American Indian Studies Program, at Michigan State University. She is a member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians and a first generation college graduate. Her research interests include American Indian/Alaska Native families, ICWA, health disparities, cross cultural studies, and Indigenous ways of knowing. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Dr. Silvey was the Executive Director of the Michigan Indian Child Welfare Agency, a statewide child placing agency for the Tribes in Michigan.
