Kelly Stevens

I was born and raised in Minnesota, specifically near the northern shore of Lake Superior. Growing up, my Father and I spent countless hours capturing the rugged beauty of the lake, and it instilled in me a passion for photography. After serving in the Army, I relocated to Maine in 1995. Where my Partner of 25 years, Carroll, and I built our home in Dixmont in 1999 with our own two hands. Due to Carroll’s health, I was his caregiver for the past two years. He passed away recently, and the experience inspired me to advocate for improving older adults’ lives and supporting caregivers and their needs.

Over the years, I have enjoyed volunteering with several nonprofit organizations, mainly historical preservation and genealogy. Currently, I serve as a Cemetery Trustee, grant writer, and social media manager for the Historical Society. Additionally, I enjoy photographing events for nonprofits and sharing the pictures on social media to enhance their visibility and fundraising efforts.

I am grateful to the people at UMaine Center on Aging and the RSVP Director for seeing my potential to help others in my role here as Program Coordinator. I gain immense pleasure from supporting my community, and I am grateful to all who join me in this pursuit!
