The RSVP is a program through Americorps Seniors that engages people 55 and older in meaningful volunteer roles that utilize their skills and life experiences to make a difference in the lives of children and adults in communities across Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, and Washington counties.

What Makes RSVP Different?
Flexibility! Time commitment is up to you based on the volunteering opportunity you choose. Volunteer roles vary from as little as an hour a month to 20 hours a week. You will create your own schedule with the staff at your volunteer station.

Bone Buildersoffers volunteering opportunities to teach lightweight training classes to prevent osteoporosis. Help create a healthy future for you and your community!
Walking Buddiesvolunteers lead walking groups and provide social connections and mentorship for other older adults in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Don’t walk alone- help others gain energy and strength while achieving your own health and wellness goals!
RSVP supports Children’s Literacy
Let’s Read! Let’s Grow!pairs older adults with students in local preschools and daycare programs to read, play games, and participate in other literacy-based activities. This program is popular with our volunteers who are retired teachers!

We are pleased to announce our newest opportunity!Simulated Patient Volunteeringis an exciting new partnership with the University of Maine’s Schools of Nursing and Social Work. This allows older adults to help students practice caring for the people they’ll serve as professionals by playing the role of standardized patients. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with a career interest in healthcare, acting, or academia!
