Looking for Maine women runners, 65 or older, for a research study

You are invited to participate in a research study. The research is being conducted by Jennifer Jain, a doctoral student in the Interdisciplinary program at the University of Maine, supervised by Dr. Lenard W. Kaye, Director of the UMaine Center on Aging and professor in the School of Social Work. Jennifer is conducting a research study about the facilitators and strategies of older women runners. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to participate in a brief demographic questionnaire (15-20 mins), participate in a recorded online focus group using Zoom (60-90 mins), and keep a journal for a week (15-30 each day for 7 days). In addition, you may be asked to participate in a follow-up recorded interview using Zoom. Participants will be eligible to receive a $25 Visa gift card for participating in the focus group and participate in one week of journaling. In addition, if asked and you choose to participate in an individual interview, the participant will receive a $10 Visa gift card.

To participate, you must live in Maine, identify as female, be 65 (this year) or older, run outdoors two or more times per week year-round for more than a year, have access to the internet and a computer, tablet, or smartphone, and agree to be recorded. All recordings are confidential and used for the purpose of transcription only. All recordings will be destroyed by December 31, 2024. For further information, please see the attached informed consent form. If you are interested in participating in this study, please take the short demographic survey. If you have any questions, please email Jennifer Jain at jennifer.jain@ maine.edu.

Please share if you know someone who fits the criteria.
