Vincent Caccese, Ph.D., P.E.

Dr. Vincent Caccese is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Maine. Professor Caccese specializes in the field of structural mechanics and regularly teaches courses in Strength of Materials, Dynamics and Finite Element Analysis.  Over his 33 year career at UMaine he has been involved in over $12M of research that was funded by public and private agencies such as the National Institutes of Health/ National Institute on Aging, the National Science Foundation, NASA, Office of Naval Research, and Maine Technology Institute, among others.  His aging related research interests include design and development of non-stigmatizing assistive devices for rehabilitation and recreation, impact resisting devices for mitigation of head, hip and other injuries, and sensing and tracking systems for assessment of performance and device use.  Dr. Caccese has been thesis advisor to over 40 graduate students including 4 PhDs and has collaborated with private industry partners such as Alaba-Technic, Mobility Technologies, Trans Tech, BIW, and Lockheed Martin, among others.
