Senior Companion Program (SCP) - helping lonely and isolated elderly maintain their independence and remain in their homes as they age. Senior Companions, limited income volunteers who are at least 55 years of age, bring compassionate friendship along with their regular visits to these homebound seniors.

The Center on Aging and School of Social Work in partnership with other schools and departments at UMaine are committed to education in the field of gerontology through initiatives such as the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education, the BSW Experiential Learning Program, the Certificate in Leadership in Rural Gerontological Practice, and the Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Gerontology
Maine Benzodiazepine Study Group
The Maine Benzodiazepine Study Group is comprised of physicians, epidemiologists, nurse practitioners, drug abuse specialists, and other interested parties in Maine and Canadian provinces.
